A total of 8 riders left Cronometro under somewhat weary skies, hoping that the rain had stopped for the day and it had. The roads were a bit wet at first but soon dried.
Flying the new Cronometro jersey.
Zigzagging our way southwest first to Paoli then the edge of Montrose.
A good ride with good friends never gets old.
There was always a conversation about something.
And then when you least expect it...
Expect it!
We don't know what the tire hit, but it was sharp and ruined the tire.
Just to clarify. I have never claimed nor have I ever done anything to argue that I am an intelligent person. And this proof of that. I sent a person out on Zipp 404 tubular demo wheels,
I took along Fast air in case of a flat, however I did not take along an extra tubular.
So after a few minutes of cussing and fussing. I made a phone call, turned over my front wheel and waited for my ride to show.
Rock em, sock em, robots #%^*$#!
So that was where my ride ended. The rest of the guys made it to New Glarus. Had a little break and headed back. 65.5 miles after the start they were back at Cronometro. Most were tired but all were happy. Another beverage, a few ride stories, and the day had ended.
It wasn't a perfect day, but it was for me a good part of the day. And I got to ride my bike with friends!
Till next time.
