Very interesting. We talked over carbon lay up, Squoval and the benefits that we (the end consumer) will see from the R & D of the Test Team.
The meeting was headed by Cervelo Co-Owner Phil White. With presentations from other Cervelo Engineers. (It is a company of engineers after all).
We also had the opportunity to do a little trainer ride. An hour and a half on a trainer doesn't sound like a lot of fun, however this trainer ride was with reining Tour de France champion Carlos Sastre. As well as Cervelo Test team member Serge Pauwels and Sport Director Jean-Paul Van Poppel, Winner of 9 Tour de France stages.
All three team members were there for the entire two day presentation, giving their in sites and opinion.
Tuesday night after a group dinner there was a Question and Answer session with the team members.
Carlos talk to us about the after the stage on Alpe d huez. Everyone kept telling him that he didn't have enough time to hold onto Yellow after the time trial. So in his words there was no presure. He could not win, so why worry! The morning of the final TT they
drove the course, on the way back to the hotel he took a nap! "How can you sleep" was the responce he was getting from everyone! I can't win! I don't have enough time! No presure. Took another nap while the TT started, got on the trainer an hour before to warm up, and then did the time trial of his life.
Everyone kept telling him
Layed back and no presure, That's Carlos.
